Black Lives Matter protesters in Bristol have destroyed the statue of
17th century slave trader, Edward Colston.
The controversial 5.5-metre (18 ft) bronze statue which stood on Colston Avenue since 1985 as a memorial to his philanthropic works, was roped, pulled down from its plinth and pushed into the docks by the angry demonstrators.
The protester knelt on Colston neck, stood atop it and then rolled the statue to where slave ships would have once docked.
Thousands of protesters marched in cities across the UK this weekend to fight against racism and discrimination. The demonstrations continue to sweep Britain following the death of George Floyd in the United States.
