American professional boxer, Oscar De La Hoya hospitalized after contracting Covid-19. His scheduled fight next week September 11th in Los Angeles, with Victor Belfort, has been cancelled as he continues to take treatment.

The Hall of Fame boxer, said despite being fully vaccinated, he still contracted the deadly disease. He has been working very hard for his return to the ring, only to have the fight postpone due to his health condition.

"Preparing for this comeback has been everything to me over the last months, & I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support," De La Hoya, 48, wrote on Twitter. "I am currently in the hospital getting treatment and am confident I will be back in the ring before the year is up. God bless everyone and stay safe."

The 10-time World Champion has been replaced with Evander Holyfield who will be fighting Victor Belfort.
