Felicity Huffman Given Jail Time Over College Admissions Scandal

Popular Hollywood actress Felicity Huffman has been sentenced to 14 days in prison for her role in College bribery scandal.

The mother of two daughters (Sophia Grace Macy and Georgia Grace Macy) who stars on The Desperate Housewives, pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit fraud be paying $15,00 to have her daughter's (Sophia Grace Macy) SAT answers secretly boosted in 2017.

Huffman paid the $15,000 to William Singer, an admissions consultant who allegedly bribed a test proctor to make corrections on her daughter's SAT. Her daughter received a score of 1420, approximately 400 points over her PSAT score from the year prior, according to the federal indictment.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani told Huffman that "being a good mother does not excuse this." She also noted that Huffman did not participate in the same scheme for her younger daughter.

Federal prosecutor Eric Rosen wanted Huffman to spend one-year in prison but she was given 14 days. She has also been placed in one year of probation, 250 hours of community service and a $30,000 fine.

Huffman said in a statement that she accepts the "court's decision without reservation."

Huffman apologized to her daughter, her husband and the rest of her family.

Also to students that could have been affected by her action, she said, "And I especially want to apologized to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices supporting their children."
