Kevin Hart Steps Down As Host of 2019 Oscars

Comedian Kevin Hart has decided to step down as the 2019 Oscars Host after his past homophobic tweets resurfaced to stop him from playing such a major role at the event.

On Wednesday afternoon, we learned that Hart would be hosting the upcoming 91st annual Academy Awards but by Thursday night, after much backlash regarding some anti-gay comments that he made about a decade ago, the actor decided to step down as the host of this grand event that would have added a major boost to his success.

Initially, the Jumanji actor, released a video where he expressed the fact that those comments with just some ignorant comments and that he was not that old person anymore.

“My team calls me, ‘Oh my God, Kevin, everyone’s upset by tweets you did years ago,'” he said in that video. “Guys, I’m nearly 40 years old. If you don’t believe that people change, grow, evolve as they get older, I don’t know what to tell you. If you want to hold people in a position where they always have to justify the past, do you. I’m the wrong guy, man.”

At this point, Kevin Hart released a second video saying:

"I chose to pass on the apology. The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it. I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then. I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old when I’ve moved on and I’m in a completely different place in my life.”

On a second thought, Kevin Hart decided to apologize one more time - via twitter - for those offensive tweets. He also used the opportunity to announced that he was removing himself from the gig (2019 Oscars).
