Good news for marijuana smokers! If you happen to take a trip through the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), there is a new policy that allows travelers to carry small amounts of weed in their carry-on "for personal consumption."
The new policy which was posted by the airport police, states that the passenger must be 21 years or older and that the amount in your carry-on should be no more than 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana.
Earlier in January, California legalized marijuana but LAX Police warns that possession of marijuana without a license is still a federal crime. Though TSA will not take your weed from you as they are more concerned about serious issues such as terrorist and security threats to the aircraft and its passengers. However, TSA would inform the police to do their job.
TSA spokeswoman Lorie Dankers said Thursday that agents won't take it away but will summon the police and let them deal with it.
"TSA's focus is on terrorism and security threats to the aircraft and its passengers," Dankers said in an email.
"Whether or not the passenger is allowed to travel with marijuana is up to law enforcement's discretion," she added.

Douglas Kidd, the executive director of the National Association of Airline Passengers said it is better to leave your stash at home. You can always buy more when you get there.
"The first thing the TSA is going to do is if they find something that is illegal for federal purposes is they're going to refer it to local law enforcement," Kidd stated.
"Now local law enforcement may say, 'We're not going to do anything.' But still, the delay could cause you to miss your flight."

This means you can take your weed into the airport but getting it into the airplane might still pose a little problem.
Before you get too excited, LAX police warns that marijuana laws vary from state to state and they encourage cannabis consumers to do their research before traveling.
Just because California is cool does not mean the next state you are traveling to permits weed. You could still end up in jail.
Be wise before trying to get high!
