Oprah Winfrey accepts the 2018 Cecil B. Demille Award on Sunday night at 75th annual Golden Globe Awards. This makes her the first black woman to be honored with the prestigious award since the Golden Globes inception in 1943.
The 63-year-old media mogul's acceptance speech declared a "New Day Arisen" for young women who are victims of abuse and neglect. She also talked about the shameless sexual harassers in Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general. A speech so powerful, everyone could relate to. It even brought the Golden Globe audience to their feet at the Beverly Hills Hilton where the event was held.
The award was presented to Oprah by Reese Witherspoon who said when she learned that she would be presenting the lifetime achievement award to Oprah, the first thing that crossed her mind was to say "Thank you" to her for all her hard-work and contribution to to the film industry and to the entire world.
Amazingly, tonight at the Sunday's ceremony, many of the celebrities on the red carpet wore black to raise awareness for gender and racial inequality.
