Nigeria's Most Notorious Kidnapper Arrested

Nigeria's riches, most brilliant and notorious kidnapper was on Sunday apprehended by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, at his home in Magodo Estate, Lagos.

The 36-year-old billionaire kidnapping kingpin who goes by the name Evans - real name Chukwudidumeme Onuamadike - is a native Umudim Village, in Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria.

According to reports, the Nigerian police placed a N30million reward for anyone who could give him up.

Evans was the leader of a high profile kidnapping gang in Festac Town, Amuwo Udophin and Ojo area in Lagos State. They would hold their victims ransome for up to 7 months until the family pays 300 to 400 million naira in full or via an arrange payment plan. This gangmembers only operated in dollars.

The rate at which people were going missing in these cities, made several wealthy people relocate to more secured cities such as Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island.

Evans and his members also operated in other parts of Nigeria such as Port Harcourt in Rivers State and Warri in Delta State.

Their arrest came few days after one of their victims, Donatus Dunu, a wealthy owner of a pharmaceutical company at Ilupeju, Lagos, escaped miraculously from the hideout where they kept him for months, Vanguard reports.
