President Buhari Travels To London For Medical Follow-up

President Muhammadu Buhari travels tonight to London for medical follow-up. The duration of his stay in the UK to be determined by his doctor.

Government officials will not disclose details of the president's medical condition but in the main time, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo will continue as the acting president in his absence.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina reported that "The president wishes to assure all Nigerians that there is no cause for worry."

The spokesman added that parliament had been informed about the president's need for medical checkup in London. "Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the vice president [Yemi Osibanjo]," he said.

This is the fourth time President Muhammadu Buhari is travelling to London for medical reasons since his inuaguration in May 29, 2015.
