Woman Arrested For Stealing Wedding Ring From a Corpse

ODESSA, Texas– Police are have arrested a woman who was caught on surveillance camera stealing a wedding ring from a deceased woman’s hand at a funeral home in Texas.

The incident occurred on April 8, when the thief walked into the funeral home and forced the ring off the corpse in an open casket at the Sunset Funeral Home in Odessa. If you watch closely, the unknown woman even threw the ring into her mouth as she fled the scene.

The family of the deceased were still mourning their loss, and preparing to lay her to rest, only to discover that someone stolen from the old woman. Angered by this discovery, the family called 911 and reported the issue.

Also, the late woman's granddaughter took to Facebook and posted this photo of her 88 years old grandmother's hand with the ring on it.

Luckily, for the grieving family, on Tuesday April 12, Odessa police announced that they had arrested a woman suspected of stealing the ring off a dead woman’s finger at a funeral home.

Police stated in a statement that they arrested Kalynn Homfeld, 41, on Tuesday afternoon. She has been charged with theft from a human corpse and could face six months to two years in a state jail if convicted. She drove off in a red or maroon four-door Saturn after committing the evil act.

Bill Vallie, manager of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, told the police that the woman entered the funeral home around 5:30 p.m. Friday and asked to use the restroom.

Hicks’ daughter Vel McKee said she returned to the funeral home to touch up her mother’s makeup and noticed that the ring was missing.

“We had only been gone for 15 minutes,” McKee told the American. “It’s just heartbreaking.”

It's funny how people are so stone hearted, they have no respect for the dead. So creepy.
