Vice president Joe Biden has lost his son, Josesph Beau Biden III to brain cancer. Beau, an Iraq War veteran who served as the attorney general of Delaware was 46 years old.

A statement by the Vice President's office reported that, Beau Biden who was the older son of the Joe Biden, passed away on Saturday after a long battle with brain cancer.

According to CNN, "Beau Biden was, quite simply, the finest man any of us have ever known," his father wrote in a statement.

Biden had suffered known health problems dating back to 2010, when he experienced a stroke that did not affect his motor skills or speech.

In 2013, Beau Biden was treated at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after he became disoriented and weak while on vacation. He was diagnosed with brain cancer, and after undergoing surgery was given a clean bill of health.

The cancer returned this spring and Biden pursued aggressive treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, the vice president's office said. He died Saturday evening, surrounded by his extended family.

May his soul rest in peace.

This sad incident has happened 43 years after Joe biden's wife, Neilia and their 1-year-old daugter, Naomi, got killed in an auto crash, leaving his two sons, Beau, 3, and Hunter, 2, hospitalized in 1972.

The Vice President even took his 1973 Senate oath at the bedside of his sons while they were still receiving treatment from the accident.
