"Blurred Lines" Verdict: Robin Thicke & Pharell William Ordered To Pay $7.3 Million To

Finally the verdict is here after a year’s worth of legal back and forth between Robin Thicke and Marvin Gaye’s estate, in which the latter asked for $25 million over claims that the 2013 tune "Blurred Lines" infringed on Marvin Gaye's hit "Got To Give It Up."

On Tuesday, March 10, Robin Thick and Pharell William's were ordered by a Los Angeles Jury to pay Marvin Gaye's family a sum of $7.3 million for copying 'Blurred Lines' from the soul legend's music.

In 2013, Thick and Pharell were hit with the lawsuit by Gaye's children Nona, Frankie and Marvin Gaye III. Although, Thick claimed he did not write 'Blurred Line , and Pharell testified that he 'crafted' the song within an hour in 2012, the children of the late singer won the battle after the jury judged in their favor.

Blurred lines was the biggest hit song in 2013 and it made a whooping $16million for Pharell, Thick and T.I. But, T.I. was cleared from the copyright infringement charges.

The juros determined that the family should receive $4million in damages and $3.4 million in profits from the song, with Thicke forced to pay $1.7million from his own pocket and Pharrell $1.6million.

Right after the verdict, outside the courtroom, Nona Gaye said 'I feel free, free from...Pharrell Williams’ & Robin Thicke’s chains,'

' and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told,' she added.
