Belize: Murder Investigation of A Resort Manager

On Friday 2, 2015, Police in Belmopan, Belize reported that they are looking for two suspects in connection with the New Year’s Day murder of 30 year old Yaima Duany Ledesma.

Yaima was killed in cold-blood on around 4:00 p.m. on January 1, 2015 at the Dream Valley Resort which she manages in Teaketle village, Cayo.

According to Superintendent Gillett, the two male suspects, pretending to be customers entered the establishment and asked for the manager. When Yaima Duany Ledesma came out to see who was asking for her, the men opened fire on her.

Ledesma was shot five times, with a fatal bullet to the head and upper part of her body, superintendent Gillet added.

She was rushed to the Western Regional hospital in Belmopan, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspects were described as being neatly dressed and left in a vehicle after the shocking homicide.

Police are not releasing a description of the getaway vehicle at this time and Superintendent Gillett says that he hopes to wrap up the investigation shortly.

What a sad thing to happen to anyone. She had the grace to see 2015, but somebody else did not want her to live the entire year. May her soul rest in peace!
