Bill Cosby's Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame Vandalized With The Word Rapist

Bill Cosby's star on Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalized with the word "Rapist" written several times over it, in purple marker.

Cosby's star was defaced amid several sexual allegations against the stand-up comedian, actor, author, television producer, educator, musician and activist.

FOX 26 was the first to report on the status of the star, located in front of 6930 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, after a viewer sent in a photo.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce was not amused by the "rapist" graffiti and so promised to have the star restored.

"When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California State landmark." said a spokesperson for Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

In a interview with MSNBC, former Cosby collaborator Debbie Allen talked about the tarnished American landmarks.

"I think [Cosby's reputation] certainly is tarnished…that anyone is asking the question," she said of Cosby's reputation. "Just imagine Mickey Mouse saying that he raped Minnie. Mickey Mouse is part of the fabric of America. Whether he did it or not, the question is being raised."

Cosby has never been charged with any crime, and his attorney has denounced the lawsuit and other allegations of wrongdoing on his behalf.

However, the claims have damaged Cosby's public image and led to the cancellation of his NBC and Netflix television projects and numerous live comedy concerts. Also, on Thursday, the U.S. Navy revoked Cosby's title of honorary chief petty officer, saying the allegations conflicted with the military organization's beliefs.

Bill Cosby, now 77, received his Walk of Fame star in 1977.
