President Obama Nominates New Attorney General Loretta Lynch

President Barack Obama nominates New York federal prosecutor Loretta Lynch on Saturday to be the country’s next attorney general. The President described her as the most qualified public servant for the job.

If confirmed, Lynch will succeed Attorney General, Eric Holder making her the first African -American woman in the job. Eric Holder was the first African - American head of the Justice Department.

“I couldn’t be more proud to nominate Loretta Lynch as our next attorney general,” Obama said during a brief White House ceremony. “I can think of no better public servant to be the next attorney general.”
