After many years of neglect, PA Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of the Nigerian flag, has received a national recognition and compensation for his immense contribution in the development on Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday, September 29th conferred on him the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR, and appointed him as a Special Assistant for life.

Akinkunmi, 77, was also placed him on a lifetime salary that must be in tune with what any Senior Special Adviser is earning.

The now retired civil servant, was among the 313 Nigerians honoured with national awards by President Jonathan at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

What a beautiful gesture from the present Nigerian government? Pa Akinkunmi truly deserves this honor. I am glad he is alive to see this day. It's good to compensate people for their efforts.
