The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) was more about jaw-dropping performances, with celebrities such as Beyonce, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azelea, Rita Ora, Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa etc. all walking the red carpet in their high-end designer outfits. Though there were a few mishaps such as wardrobe malfunctions, the annual MTV ceremony still finds a lot of artists taking home hardware.
While the sole purpose for organizing the show is to honor achievements in music videos, this year's event was undeniably an awesome package.
Prior to the big event, there was a lot of 'drama' such Iggy Azalea slipping offstage while performing "Fancy" at a MTV benefit concert. Also, at a rehearsal, a show worker fell from one of the winding, sloping platforms on the stage at the Forum in Inglewood, California, which reopened in January after a $100 million makeover. And then the worse happened when rap mogul Suge Knight was reportedly shot in the early hours of Sunday morning at a West Hollywood nightclub for an unofficial pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown.
