Missionaries are usually sent out into the world to do evangelism or ministries of service such as education, social justice, health care, economic service etc. But, 19-year-old Matthew Lane Durham of Oklahoma has been doing more than what was expected of him.

The teen is accused of engaging in sex acts with as many as 10 children between the ages of 4 to 10 years while volunteering at Upendo Children’s Home in Kenya.

Durham did mission work with the organization called Upendo that provides assistance to neglected Kenyan children by providing them with food, clothing, a place to stay and religion.

A complaint against the teen, who volunteered overseas several times last year, reported that “Durham requested to stay at the children’s home in an ‘overflow bunk’ rather than at an offsite facility.”

According to KTLA5, Durham confessed to raping girls, forcing boys to perform oral sex on him and making other children watch.

“This is a young man in our community that made choices to exploit children in an orphanage,” said United States Attorney Sanford Coats. “It’s a true tragedy all the way around."

An affidavit regarding the case also revealed that at least one of the children Durham is alleged to have molested has the HIV virus.

Parents be warned!!! Just because someone says they are there to help doesn't mean you should trust them with your children. Pedophiles often disguise themselves as "the good guys."
